Jeannie Mai Gets Emotional While Opening Up About Engagement To Jeezy
On Monday (Apr. 13), Jeannie Mai got emotional while opening up about her engagement to Jeezy during the “girl chat” segment of The Real. She was asked if she approached this relationship differently as her forthcoming marriage would be her second but Jeezy’s first.
“I would say uhh,” Jeannie Mai said as her voice trailed off while she got emotional. “Are you getting emotional?” asked co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley. Jeannie Mai didn’t respond, as she tried to compose herself before answering.
“It’s so weird that…I would say that that personal time for anybody whose been divorced. You guys have friends who have been divorced. It’s one of the most traumatic things that can happen because you just feel like you failed. You feel embarrassed of all those people that were there at your wedding.”
“Then you don’t know if… You get jaded. There were so many times that I made so many jokes about marriage. The thing, I think that what saved me is that I never gave up on love,” the newly-engaged television host continued. “I never gave up on love because love is so omnipresent and it’s so healing that the only time that I was able to recognize the love with J is because I took that time to love myself.”
Jeannie Mai then explained that she took two years after her divorce just for herself. “And the divorce hurt,” Jeannie Mai said before explaining that during divorces people see things in people that make it hard to trust anymore.
During the segment, Jeannie Mai also shared the details of her engagement. “He directed my attention to this TV screen behind me,” Jeannie Mai said before explaining that he took her on a virtual tour of Vietnam. As we previously reported, the couple was supposed to go on a trip to Vietnam and that’s where the engagement was originally supposed to take place. However, the COVID-19 pandemic halted Jeannie and Jeezy’s plans.
“You guys have to see the details of this. I could post it on Instagram, tag the place, and you would think I was there,” Jeannie Mai gushed.
