Most people have their favorite bars they like to hang out in, and while you may think your favorite watering hole is the best bar out there, not everyone may agree. Well, now a new report is out to settle that debate, naming the Best Bars in North America, and you may be surprised by the results.
The first-ever list of North America’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, is out. Topping the list is Attaboy, which is located on the Lower East Side of New York City. The speak-easy-type bar is celebrated for its “perfectly balanced variations of Prohibition-era cocktails.” If you go visit, don’t ask for a menu because there is none. Each drink is “custom-tailored for the guest after a brief conversation.”
Overall, 29 bars in the U.S. made the list, along with 11 from Mexico, two from Canada, and two from the Caribbean. Mexico City’s Handshake Speakeasy, two overall, was named the Best Bar in Mexico while Toronto’s Civil Liberties is the Best Bar in Canada and La Factoria in Puerto Rico, is the Best Bar in the Caribbean.
