Are you a person that enjoys traveling alone? Well, if you are then you are not alone. Many people who do enjoy traveling would also rather travel alone. Not only do they enjoy the group trips, but that time to experience a place alone with no one else to interfere can be even better. I am one person who enjoys alone time. From alone time in the house to running errands solo, it can all be a form of therapy for me. But, solo traveling can be just as good as well!

Go Banking Rates is naming some of the best budget-friendly getaways in the U.S. for those solo travelers. Traveling solo can be a moment to splurge on cost since you’re only worried about yourself, but a budget-friendly weekend getaway can be great. You don’t always need a crazy destination to make your solo time worth it. A road trip can be a great solo travel experience. Luckily for us, there are quite a few close by areas that are great budget-friendly destinations. But, which ones? Find out what Carolina cities below are Go Banking Rates’ great destinations for budget-friendly getaways. If you want to see the full list to compare other cities then click here.

  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

First up, we’re heading to a popular beach town in South Carolina. You love it or you hate it, but Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is one of those perfect, affordable spots for those traveling solo. Plus, it’s only a road trip away! While looking for places to stay, the average for a hotel is about under $200 a night. Myrtle Beach has tons of attractions from the beach itself, the boardwalk area, restaurants, shopping, and so much more. Of course, you could enjoy those by yourself and not need a crowd to just take some time for yourself on the weekend.

  • Corolla, North Carolina

Now, we’re coming up to North Carolina and heading to a spot I have personally never heard of. But, also on the list is Corolla, North Carolina. Not sure where it is? No worries, I wasn’t sure at first either. Corolla is located in the Outer Banks area of North Carolina and I must say as someone who has been to the Outer Banks, I could totally see this on the list. The average cost per night for a trip to Corolla is about $120 per night which is pretty cheap compared to other cities. You are also near the beach area when in the Outer Banks, great seafood options, and experiences like Kill Devil Hills, the lighthouse, and more. I have personally experienced the Outer Banks area with a significant other and I could see myself enjoying it all over again, but solo.

  • Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Taking a trip back down south and so far this list is basically telling us that the beach towns are the best for solo travel. Now, we’re discussing Hilton Head Island down in South Carolina. Hilton Head is a bit more expensive than the Outer Banks with the average cost for lodging per night about $155 per night. You can visit Hilton Head Island not only in the warm months, but it’s a great getaway destination all year long. The food is amazing, the shopping is great, and you also have the chance to experience some outdoor fun. Hilton Head Island offers the chance for you to pick up on your golfing skills, tennis skills, or relax at a spa nearby.

  • Hatteras Island, North Carolina

Back to North Carolina we go. This time, we’re looking into Hatteras Island, North Carolina. The island is the perfect spot for you to visit solo, especially during the months of March – May or September and November. For about $200 a night, you can enjoy a relaxing solo vacation on the island. The laid back, beachy vibe is perfect for the one that wants to lay out in the sun, go fishing, paddling, surfing, and many other water/outdoor activities. If you have seen all of these then I am sure a solo beach trip is the way you would want to go!
