July 19th is National Hot Dog Day. It’s celebrated every summer on the third Wednesday in July. And before I go any further I’m going to preface this by saying I will not be celebrating. I’m just not a hot dog fan. No one can tell me exactly what is in one, and I just can’t accept that. I need to know exactly what I’m eating. But despite my refusal to eat one of these dogs (side note can you call them a sandwich yes or no?), they are a wildly popular food in America. And we love hot dogs here in Charlotte and the rest of North Carolina. No matter if you choose to eat them with slaw and chili, mustard, or relish. I’ll take your word for what’s the best!
You typically think of hot dogs as gracing the menu at a backyard cookout. Or perhaps at a cart in the middle of the city. They aren’t the most common dish to see on a menu at a restaurant, however. So if you are looking to indulge in the celebration of this classic American fare, and don’t want to cook for yourself, where should you go? That’s where I’m here to help. Though I cannot personally vouch for which are the best, I’ll give you as much info as I can to help you pick the spot you want to try. Or go all out for National Hot Dog Day and try them all.
