Summer unofficially kicks off this weekend, and for a lot of families, vacation plans will include taking the kids to some theme park to keep them entertained. The competition for visitors has parks adding new and exciting attractions each year, and now a new list reveals which new attractions are worth the trip.
“USA TODAY” asked their readers to chime in with their picks for the ten best new theme park attractions in the United States. The list included rides that have just opened or are expected to open this summer. Topping the list this year is Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando, the park’s first launch roller coaster, which includes a reverse launch into a 93-foot spike, the highest in Florida. It also has a 100-degree angle, a 1,900-foot long track, and a top speed of 52 mph.
As someone who just went to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure for the first time in Orlando Florida, I am happy to see the VelociCoaster on the list. That ride and Hagrid’s ride were my two favorite rides in the entire park. I can’t wait to go back and ride them again! According to USA Today, ‘Universal’s Island of Adventures invites thrill-seekers to “feel the rush of the hunt on the apex predator of roller coasters” – the Jurassic World VelociCoaster. Riders walk into gates that look like the real Jurassic Park and board this intense ride with two 70-mph launches in three minutes, a “top hat” that projects you 155-feet in the air, and a 360-degree horizontal barrel roll above the Island of Adventure’s lagoon. Not an experience intended for the faint of heart.”
My girlfriend gets motion sickness on rides like these and she got the bands to wear on her wrists and took medicine all day long to be able to ride. Check out the 10 best new theme park attractions below:
