Stranger Kindness Raises $70K For 22-Year-Old Mom With Terminal Cancer

Grab a box of tissues and buckle in. This one is both heartbreaking and heartwarming when a stranger’s kindness comes to the rescue of a woman with cancer.

According to GOOD NEWS NETWORK, when Rachel Burns, a 22-year-old mother from Northern Ireland, learned that she had an advanced-stage brain tumor and likely only four months to live, she wasn’t just devastated for herself, but also for her daughter Raeya, who’d just celebrated her first birthday. The young mom faced the challenge of breaking the news to her family while grappling with the fear of missing future milestones in her daughter’s life.

Desperate for more time with her family, Rachel and her partner quickly created a crowdfund to raise money to pay for an experimental treatment in Germany. The innovative new treatment could potentially extend her life by several years. Support from their community was overwhelming, and within 24 hours, they’d raised more than $35-thousand, with donations continuing to pour in.

The fundraiser has now raised over $70-thousand, giving Rachel hope and the ability to make plans for the treatment. She expressed deep gratitude for all the kindness she’s received, saying that it has brought her and her family hope during this difficult time. She also thanked everyone who donated, stressing the significant impact it’s had on her family’s outlook.
