Are you a female real estate agent? You might not know this, but you are a rare bird. At least in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The real estate profession offers high earning potential, flexible schedules for families, and a low barrier to entry. this type of career attracts a large number of women who are looking for a career change, a second job or coming back to the workforce after a career break. A new study examines which U.S. cities have the most female real estate agents.

The Results

To find the metropolitan areas with the most female real estate agents, researchers at Construction Coverage analyzed data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Zillow. The researchers ranked metros according to the percentage of real estate agents that are women. Researchers calculated the median annual earnings for real estate agents, the concentration of real estate agents compared to the national share, and median home price. Only large metros with populations of one million or more were included in the analysis. The list shows a total of 54 metros.

The analysis found that in the Charlotte metro area, 50.9% of all real estate agents are women, compared to 55.8% at the national level. Of all metros included in the analysis, the Charlotte metro has the 15th fewest female real estate, agents. This means the North Carolina city of Charlotte ranks as one of the lowest for female real estate agents. Check out some of the lowest-ranking cities below.

    So one North Carolina city actually made the top of the list. We wanted to include it as well. The North Carolina city of Raleigh, North Carolina pulled in at number nine.

    We also wanted to give a shout-out before we get to the (low parts) to our neighbors in South Carolina. Coming in at an impressive number two is the city of Greenville-Anderson-Mauldin, South Carolina.
