The cast of Harry Potter paid tribute to Robbie Coltrane.  The actor who played Hagrid passed away at the age of 72 on Friday, October 14th.  The cause of death is unknown but he had reportedly been ill for the last several years.  If you are unfamiliar with the Harry Potter novels and movies, Hagrid was a half-giant and half-human character.  He started as a gamekeeper and Keeper of Keys and Grounds of Hogwarts and eventually worked his way up to a Care of Magical Creatures professor in ‘Prisoner of Azkaban’.  It is also in the third series that we learn Hagrid is a member of The Order Of The Phoenix.  Hagrid develops a friendly and loyal relationship with Harry, Ron, and Hermione which also shows his soft-hearted personality.

The character traits of Hagrid seem to have run parallel with those of Robbie Coltrane.  Daniel Radcliff and Emma Watson both released statements reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Radcliff(Harry Potter) says, “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set.  He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.  Watson(Hermione Granger) says, “Robbie was like the most fun uncle I’ve ever had, but most of all, he was deeply caring and compassionate towards me as a child and an adult.  Read below as other cast members also paid tribute to Robbie Coltrane.
