Paramore kicked off their highly anticipated North American Tour last night in Charlotte, North Carolina. The show, at the Spectrum Center in uptown, was a sold-out affair full of fans. And it lived up to the hype. The band took the stage right around 9 pm and played a full high-energy two-hour set. When we snuck out to beat the crowd to the train it was right at 11 pm. The Paramore setlist on opening night kicked off on a high note and continued featuring a mixture of recent tracks and nostalgic favorites. The last thirty to forty minutes consisted of hit after hit after hit entertaining, this very casual Paramore fan.
I’d seen them twice before hand once in a co-headlining show at PNC Music Pavilion that I actually for the life of me can’t remember who the other artist was. And the second time, I was able to catch a few minutes of them in Glendale Arizona as they were openers on the opening weekend of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour. I spent most of there set at that show in a sea of lines, but actually got a perfect view of the stadium filled with phone lights during The Only Exception. It was fun to see that moment again this time on the opening night of their own tour.
A Sweet Moment Tucked Near The End Of the Paramore Setlist
The other highlight of the show was when Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams brought a fan on stage to sing Misery Business. This seems to be a tradition and fans brought signs making the case as to why they should be chosen. Ultimately a fan was chosen whose sign declared this was her 22nd attempt. It was a sweet moment to see her get to sing on stage with the person I assume is her favorite artist/band. A heartwarming moment for sure. If you missed the show, are going to see it another city, or just want to experience it all over again here is the Paramore setlist from the opening night of their North American Tour!
