Anyone else have a case of the January blues?

For some reason, I’ve been feeling a bit down the last few weeks, but it seems like a lot of people I know are feeling the same way, and we’ve coined the feeling the “January Blues.”

One thing that does make me excited however is seeing so many fun events happening around town. It makes me feel like there are options for my weekend, which is always nice.

If you’re looking to get out and about this weekend, and do something other than just watch football, here are my top picks of things going on in Charlotte this weekend.

 

  • Queen’s Feast: Charlotte Restaurant Week

    Charlotte Restaurant week is still going on! You can enjoy three-course, prix fixe dining deals from 85+ participating restaurants all weekend long.

  • Stirred Whiskey Cocktails Class

    Want to hone in on your bartender skills? Learn how to create three unique cocktail variations with whiskey this Friday at The Cocktailery. Prices vary for this event that runs from 6:30-8 pm.

  • 2023 Confronting Whiteness Conference 

    This event is a two-day conference, that will include speakers, breakout sessions, food trucks and artisans, plus a pop-up market featuring locally-owned Black businesses. Tickets to attend are $50-$125. It will be happening Friday and Saturday at Myers Park Baptist Church.

  • GloRilla

    Grammy-nominated rapper GloRilla will be in Charlotte this Friday night at The Underground: . Tickets are $220-$700, and the show starts at 8pm

  • Grand Opening at RSVP South End

    This new nightlife destination in South End is opening this weekend and you can stop by the gran opening on Friday night and see their four spaces, perfect for everyone in the friend group. 

     

  • Speed Dating

    Every wanted to try speed dating? This is your chance! See if you can make a quick spark at this event at Ri Ra Irish Pub on Saturday from 7-9pm. Tickets are $33-$39.  

  • Frankie Zombie Solo Art Experience

    Watch artist Frankie Zombie do live art through body painting. Tickets are $100, and the show starts at 5:45pm on Saturday.

  • Job Fair

    It is no secret that the job market has been rough this year. If you’re looking for a new job, stop by Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, and interview with departments at the Bank of America Stadium to work sporting events and concerts. This event is free to attend from 12-4pm.

  • The Culture Market Expo Tour

    Gosh, do I love a craft fair or what! At this event you can shop from 50+ local small businesses, plus enjoy guest performers and motivational speakers. It is free to attend from 1-5pm at at 1824 Statesville Ave

  • Old Chevrolette Set 

    Stop by one of Charlotte’s more eclectic bars, the Thirsty Beaver, and dance to classic country music from The Old Chevrolette Set. This event is free to attend, and starts at 6pm on Sunday.

  • Charlotte Hornets vs. Miami Heat

    Sunday night, cheer on the Charlotte Hornets as they take on the Miami Heat at the Spectrum Center. Tickets range from $16-$550, and tip off is at 1pm
