Can you believe it’s already the middle of May? With schools getting ready to get out, and Summer getting ready to officially start, the events around Charlotte are beginning to pick up.
Yes, there is rain in the forecast this weekend in Charlotte, but there are still plenty of events to distract yourself.
Here’s a list of some of my top picks of events happening around Charlotte this weekend!
Reel Out Charlotte at Camp North End
This film festival provides a space for LGBTQ+ filmmakers to express themselves and share experiences on the big screen. The event takes place all weekend, and costs $5 per screening; $40 all-access pass.
Crayola IDEAworks: Grand Opening Weekend at Camp North End
This new interactive exhibit will feature digital and hands-on activations. 10am-8pm. $25.
Walk a Mile at NoDa Brewing Company
This event is in solidarity with survivors of domestic assault and sexual violence. Participants will complete one mile in high-heeled shoes on Saturday. 9am. $15-$25.
Camden Commons in South End
Camden Road is closing off on Saturday and the road will turn into an outdoor living space where folks can hang out, play games, listen to music and eat tasty food from South End restaurants. 11am to 5pm. Free.
2nd Saturday’s Drag Brunch at Midtown Tavern
Brunch with a show? This fun event will happen on Saturday at 11am. $15.
Biscuits & Gravy Drag Brunch at the Artisan’s Palate
There will be deals like $5 mimosas and Bloody Mary specials. Plus, an amazing drag show. It’s all for a good cause too! Proceeds will benefit HopeWay. 11:30am & 2pm. $20
Wellness Fest at Protagonist South End
Do everything wellness related at this Saturday event that will have yoga, plus over 35 local vendors. There will also be live music and food on-site. Noon to 5pm. Free.
Festa Italiana at Gateway Village
This event takes place on Sunday and will celebrate Italian culture through authentic cuisine and live entertainment. 1-7pm. $45+
Tara Brown’s Clean Comedy Brunch at The Comedy Zone
Get brunch with a laugh on this Sunday. The show is for all ages. 3:30pm. $10-$15.
Pet Palooza Walk and Festival at the HSC Animal Resource Center
This will be a quarter-mile walk where you can also enjoy music, food trucks and pet vendors on Sunday from 11am to 3pm. $10
