This upcoming Grammys featured nominations from powerhouse artists like Beyoncé (she had the most nominations with nine), Taylor Swift (three nominations), Harry Styles (seven nominations) and Adele (seven nominations). Recordings had to be released from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022 to be considered. As always, there were a few artists who should have made the cut but didn’t. Per the Recording Academy’ guidelines, these recordings must be “commercially released, nationally distributed and available from within the eligibility period” to qualify. Submissions opened this summer, with the first round of voting taking place from October 13 and ending October 23; a final round of voting to determine winners is scheduled to commence on December 14.

See below who we think got snubbed in the 2023 Grammys.

• Ed Sheeran - =

  Sure, it’s not Sheeran’s best album, but his fifth studio album did have some catchy hits that we think should have been nominated, like “Bad Habits.”

• Silk Sonic - An Evening With Silk Sonic

  Okay, so “Leave The Door Open” has been played a LOT since its March 2021 release, but to this day, it still is such a good song that we can’t ever skip it! The album wasn’t released until November of 2021, soit was elibigle. Though the duo withdrew their debut studio album for consideration, someone from their label should have submitted it anyway!

• Charli XCX - "Beg For You"

  Charli’s fifth studio album Crash, released in March of this year, had lots of hits. For some reason, none of them made the nominees list: “New Shapes,” “Beg For You” and “Baby” were the best songs on the album.

• The Weeknd - Dawn FM

  Like Silk Sonic, The Weeknd didn’t want his notable fifth studio album Dawn FM to be up for consideration. The Weeknd began his official Academy boycott in 2021, citing his massively successful After Hours album and its singles not receiving any nominations for last year’s event. “Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys,” he told The New York Times in a statement at the time. Before sharing an official statement, he has expressed his discontent with the shutout on Twitter, writing: “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”

• Phoebe Bridgers - "sidelines"

  Move over, Olivia Rodrigo, Phoebe Bridgers is the true queen of pop sadness. Following her 2020 album, Punisher with this year’s hit “Savior Complex.” It was her first piece of new music in two years, and should have been nominated.

• Tove Lo - "No One Dies From Love"

  Known for their 2014 hit “Habits (Stay High)” the Swedish singer-songwriter’s “”No One Dies From Love” single is another chill dance-pop hit.

• Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loneliest Time

  Rocking the same blonde shag as Miley Cyrus in this “Talking To Yourself” music video, Carly Rae Jepsen really evolved her music since she blasted onto the scene ten years ago with “Call Me Maybe.”

• Nicki Minaj - Queen Radio: Volume 1

  Minaj’s Queen Radio: Volume 1 got zero nominations, with her song “Super Freaky Girl” not qualified to compete as a rap song at the annual awards show was instead forced into the “pop” category. Last month, Minaj took to Twitter to call out a move she clearly perceives as a double standard, writing that “I have no prob being moved out the RAP category as long as we r ALL being treated FAIRLY.”
