Many people imagine finding “the one”, dating for a period of time, then eventually getting married. But what if that third step isn’t exactly part of the plan?
According to an article courtesy of the Huffington Post, 63% of millennials claimed that they would be okay with staying in a long-term relationship without having to get married. That seems like a pretty huge number to us! However, this number may actually be pretty accurate when considering that millennials are obviously younger and are likely still figuring out most aspects of their lives. For example, planning a wedding and making the ultimate commitment to someone might seem stressful or intimidating for someone so young! As LauRen mentions, many millennials are more geared towards pursuing their careers, travelling, or chasing their dreams in other ways. In other words, maybe marriage just isn’t the priority right now!
