Charlotte’s very own, Steve Smith, stopped by and hung out with MRL to talk about a very serious topic that is happening not only in the Queen City but all over the globe.
Steve Smith and his wife, Angie Smith, have dedicated much of their time to our local community via their Steve Smith Family Foundation. Raising domestic violence awareness is a cause close to Smith’s heart and the Charlotte Hornets look to support his mission in a variety of ways during Steve Smith Night! Tomorrow night’s game against the Phoenix Suns will honor Charlotte sports legend Steve Smith for his contributions on and off the field. Saturday night, fans will be encouraged to participate in a text to give campaign by texting “3seconds” to 71777, to signify that every three seconds there is a new victim of domestic violence in the United States.
Also…A commemorative Steve Smith bobblehead will be given to the first 7,500 fans in attendance on March 10!
We talked to Fred Whitfield about the importance of the Hornets’ involvement with The Steve Smith Foundation as well as US Attorney Andrew Murray about the realness of domestic violence. Agent 89 got to chat with us about his foundation, his new life off the field, as well as new hobbies!
