I’m undecided about A Christmas Story 2.  The official trailer came out earlier this week and I don’t know what to do with it.  Like a lot of people, A Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas movie of all time.  I was first introduced to it via VHS tape when I was nine and was immediately hooked.  Shortly after that TBS started showing it on a 24-hour loop.  When I met my wife nine years ago around Christmas, A Christmas Story was one of our first things in common.  We have a full lineup of Christmas DVDs.  We’ll watch Four Christmases the closer we get to our family travels.  We play How The Grinch Stole Christmas when we put the tree up.  We start watching A Christmas Story every day about a week or so from Christmas Day.  When we open gifts we’ll have it on a loop all day.

Some Christmas movie sequels have worked out just fine like Home Alone 2; Lost in New York or The Santa Clause franchise.  Many have tried releasing a sequel and have tragically failed.  Did you know there was a Jingle All The Way 2 with Larry The Cable Guy?  I’m sure A Christmas Story 2 will reference the first one at different times throughout the movie.  There might even be similar situations where famous lines are used.  I’m undecided about A Christmas Story 2 but I’m sure I’ll eventually watch it.  I just hope that they go all in and bring that same nostalgia that makes Christmas movies comforting.  The official trailer is below!

  • The leg lamp delivery.

  • Meeting Santa.
