North Carolina Man Speechless After Third Lottery Big Win
Once in a lifetime? Not for Greg Hensley. The Marion, North Carolina resident scored his third big lottery win last week. Hensley won a $200,000 prize through the second-chance drawing. He was in shock at the news and just handed his phone to his wife as he was speechless.
This was Hensley’s third large prize won through the lottery. The 63-year-old woodworker won $20,000 in 2020. He followed that up with a $10,000 win earlier this year.
“With as many folks who are entering drawings, to actually win one is hard to comprehend,” Hensley told lottery officials, “so to actually win three, it’s mind-boggling.”
Hensley claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Monday. After required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $142,020. When asked what he planned to use the money for he said he hopes to buy a new truck and knock out some home repairs.
Hensley’s win was part of the first of four drawings in the Multiply the Cash second-chance promotion. His entry was picked from upwards of 66.9 million entries. The promotion allows players a second chance to win by scanning their multiply the cash tickets into their lottery accounts. Once scanned they are automatically entered into the next drawing. Prizes that are offered include one $200,000 prize (that Hensley won). Additionally, 10 winners will take home $10,000 prizes and 50 will take home $500 prizes. The next drawing will take place on June 8th.
With inflation and the rising cost of living, we could all use some extra cash! Good luck to everyone participating in the next drawing.
