Ghost Town In The Sky Returning To North Carolina Mountains
Plans are in the works for the Ghost Town In The Sky in North Carolina to make its comeback. The Ghost Town In The Sky or Ghost Town Village is a Wild West-themed amusement park that has been closed for many years. It sits high on a mountain in Maggie Valley, NC. Since closing in 2002 the park has essentially become an actual ghost town.
The park needs a lot of work. which is a part of why it was shut down in the first place. Now design and production company Storyland Studios is on the project according to an October 26th press release. While just now official the collaboration had been rumoured for several months.
Storyland Studios is a company that is run by previous Disney Imagineers so you can imagine the creativity and quality they will bring to the ghost town. And Disney isn’t the only thing on their resume. How does credits for Universal Orlando’s Hogwarts Express, the Legoland Waterpark, and FAO Schwarz.
However the new reincarnation will look very different from it’s past. While plans are not final, at least to the public, renderings feature shopping, dining, entertainment, as well as residential use. While the fate of the parks original rides is unknown, there could be some rides like a ferris wheel.
A spokesperson for the project told Smokey Mountain New that the “lower level of Ghost Town might look something like “Broadway on the Beach” in Myrtle Beach.” The Ghost Town would bring much needed tourism to this gorgeous area of North Carolina. While no opening date is set for the development it will be post 2022 before it is complete.
