Medical Facilities

Pet Care
- Calvin’s Craft Cookies: We wanted a better dog treat so we made one. We upcycle grains from breweries and use them as the main ingredients for our dog treats.
- CBW Charlotte, LLC: We are offering Daycare, Boarding, and Grooming Services for the pups of Essential Service Workers at our Charlotte Metro and Matthews Camps. We offer a 20% discount on a full day of daycare for these workers as well as early drop-off and “no contact” curbside drop off and pick up. Our Fort Mill Camp is operating as usual for all of our customers. CBW Fort Mill is offering a 20% discount to healthcare workers and first responders, as well as early, curbside drop off for these workers and a 20% discount on a full day of daycare.

Income Assistance
- As of March 17th, North Carolina Governor, Roy Cooper, has expanded unemployment benefits and eligibility after closing sit-down restaurants. According to the recent press release, “This Order will directly aid workers who may have lost wages in restaurants and meeting places due to mass gathering restrictions. For example, workers who lose income due to tips or scheduled work hours, but are still employed, would be eligible for benefits because of this Executive Order.” Read full eligibility details here.
Utilities, Rent, Etc.
- Charlotte Water will not disconnect water services for residents who are unable to pay until further notice. Read the full release here.
- Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas will not disconnect services due to non-payment. Here is a full list of steps they are taking during this time.
- United Way states that if you need food assistance, paying housing bills, accessing free childcare, or other essential services to contact 2-1-1 or locate your local 211 helplines via their website for support.
- Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription. Contact policy.charter.com or 1-844-488-8395.

Food Assistance
- Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry has updated its services to better serve the community by pre-packing items for clients. Read their response to COVID-19 here. (List of the local Charlotte Loaves & Fishes pantry locations here)
- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are offering two meals, lunch, and breakfast for the following day, to anyone 18 years old and under. Click here for more information and a full list of distribution locations.
- Gaston County Schools has set up a “Grab and Go” meal service for children in their school district. Click here for distribution locations, times, and pick-up information.
- University Soup Kitchen: We provide meals, clothes, med supplies, and other resources to those in need during this crisis, and year-round in general. We welcome new volunteers and anyone in need of our services. We are completely mobile, we come to you!
Children & Families
- CMS will offer grab and go lunch and breakfast for the next day free to anyone 18yrs and under in select school parking lots Monday – Friday from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. • For questions or to learn participating schools click HERE or contact lunch@cms.k12.nc.us or 980-343-6041
- To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, Mecklenburg County has closed several facilities, services, and events (such as Senior Centers and Park) effective March 18th, 2020. Read here for the full list of closures.
- Governor Roy Connor has closed all K-12 schools for two weeks, effective March 16th – March 30th. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools have adjusted the school calendar and moved Spring Break from April up to March. Full details here.

Pet Care
- The Humane Society of Charlotte’s Pet Foodbank will deliver in a “no-contact” approach beginning on March 21st. For an individual pet, food assistance emails the HSC’s Community Outreach Coordinator at kthompson@humanecharlotte.org. Click here for more details.

Small Business Administration Updated Disaster Assistance Loans (As of March 17th, 2020)
- The U.S. Small Business Administration has updated its Disaster Assistance Loan criteria to support more small businesses. According to a recent press release from the SBA, the following criteria will have two immediate impacts:
