Southpark, Concord Mills, And Charlotte Premium Outlets Closing Temporarily
Effective tonight, March 18, beginning at 7 P.M., Southpark Mall, Concord Mills, and Premium Outlets will be closed until March 29 due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Simon Properties owns all three malls and made the announcement this afternoon.
The company says the decision was made after extensive discussions with federal, state and local officials and in recognition of the need to address the spreading of the virus. The company is one of many that have decided to shut down temporarily to limit the spread of the disease.
“Social distancing” is hard to do sometimes while shopping, so it makes sense. Belk announced yesterday that they would close their stores until the end of the month, and Target, Walmart, Harris Teeter, and other stores now have shortened store hours.
Luckily, there’s always online shopping now so you can continue to do so at your favorite store. It’s a bummer to see all of this happening. I feel like we’re all living in some crazy movie! But, it totally makes sense. Right now we all need to focus on staying healthy!
