Curious to see how Americans really feel about holiday travel and their plan for holiday gatherings? We were too. Thanks to a recent study from Savanta surveyed 1,000 Americans and asked Americans how they feel about holiday travel and their plan for holiday gatherings.

From the study, it looks like a lot of people will be traveling by car and gone longer than 2 days. I guess with the pandemic, people want to spend as much time with family and friends as possible.

    • 47% of Americans do not plan to travel this holiday season
    • 10% of Americans are unsure about travel this holiday season.
  • Projections for holiday gathering size this year 

    • 14% of Americans strongly disagree that their holiday gatherings will be smaller than years prior
    • 25% of Americans neither agree nor disagree that their holiday gatherings will be smaller than years prior
    • 22% of Americans strongly agree that their holiday gatherings will be smaller than years prior
    • 13% of Americans strongly disagree that their holiday gatherings this year will be the same size as years prior
    • 21% of Americans neither agree or disagree that their holiday gatherings this year will be the same size as years prior
    • 20% of Americans strongly agree that their holiday gatherings this year will be the same size as years prior

    • 24% of vaccinated Americans do not have a preference if those they plan to spend the holidays with are fully vaccinated against Covid-19
    • 36% of vaccinated Americans strongly expect unvaccinated friends or family to wear a mask during their holiday gatherings

    • 44% of Americans traveling this season expect to be away from home for 1-3 days
    • 41% of Americans traveling this season expect to be away from home for 4-7 days
    • 11% of Americans traveling this season expect to be away from home for 8-14 days
    • 4% of Americans traveling this season expect to be away from home for longer than 2 weeks
  • Covid-19 Vaccination Status

    • 36% of Americans are not vaccinated at all for Covid-19
    • 13% of Americans are partially vaccinated for Covid-19
    • 31% of Americans are fully vaccinated at all for Covid-19 but have not received a booster
    • 20% of Americans are fully vaccinated at all for Covid-19 and have received a booster
    • 51% of Americans are fully vaccinated for Covid-19
