Note to self, never buy winter clothes in the winter. Yes, it is strange and very unlogical…but it is true! There are some things that you should wait to buy in North Carolina. Because of the specific season, there are four things that actually skyrocket in price.

To help shoppers save some green this month, Offers.com shopping experts have listed the top items not to purchase in December to maximize their holiday savings. Check out these four things below.

  • 1. Winter Clothes

Purchase light jackets, boots, and cold-weather accessories rather than heavy coats and boots. You’ll likely find these seasonal items for much less if you can wait until late winter – when retailers are eager to clear out inventory for new spring styles. In addition, if you can’t wait until the end of the season, you can often score winter fashions at low prices during New Year sales.

  • 2. Home Goods

Do you still have time to take advantage of Black Friday savings? Hold off on buying these items until New Year’s sales bring mattress deals and President’s Day events bring furniture savings. Stores also run “white sales” in January, featuring bedding, towels, and other fluffy, soft items.

  • 3. TVs

For the best deals on TVs, we always encourage shoppers to wait until the week before the Super Bowl (which falls on Sunday, February 13 this year). In the days leading up to game day, big-box retailers and warehouse chains often plunge prices to tempt fans who want to upgrade.

  • 4. Exercise Equipment

If you can hold off on buying treadmills, yoga mats, and Shake Weights until January, when retailers launch sales to attract shoppers with fitness-related New Year’s resolutions, you’ll likely find better deals.
