One of my absolute favorite things in the whole world is reading a book and then watching the movie adaptation. Because a lot of times, how you imagine the book is nothing like what the directors imagined for the movie, right? And sometimes it’s cool to see how other people have imagined the same book that you read. But, other times, you get disappointed because who you thought would’ve been the best pick for the main character wasn’t even considered… Do you ever feel like you could do a movie adaptation of a book SO MUCH BETTER?

Anyway, there are times when you watch a gem that is even more spectacular than you could’ve imagined. Seeing it on screen makes the story come alive in a way that other movie adaptations don’t. Buzzfeed has compiled a list of movies that they think are even better than the book.

I didn’t include their whole list, because some of those movies I’ve never heard of. But here are the nine movies on their list that I could definitely see being better than the book. To be fair, I haven’t read the books for allll of these, but now I know that the movies are better, so that’s good enough for me.

Quite a few of these are horror movies, so that might be an interesting thing to think about…As an overall genre, are horror books or movies better? How much do audio and visuals add to a horror story (if done right)?

What are some of your favorite books that were turned into movies?
