Get ready for golf with these movies!  I do every year.  I’ve always liked them and I’ve always liked golf.  This has sort of become my own tradition and I actually don’t do this for any other sport.  They’re all very nostalgic.  I was also 10 in the mid-90s so my parents hardly approved of me watching a couple of them.  This made them even better to watch of course.  Right about now is when those perfect temps hit and if you’re into the sport, you just want to be on the course all day.  You don’t even have to be good at golf.  I play just to try and hit a ball straight while drinking beer.  My wife even tags along and she wants nothing to do with swinging a club.  Get ready for golf with these movies!

  • Happy Gilmore - 1996

One of my all time favorite movies in general and easily one of the best golf movies.

  • Tin Cup - 1996

Sports and romantic comedies don’t always mix, but this one tees you up for laughs and will have you rooting for the underdog.  Careful watching this one with the family.

  • Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius - 2004

Bobby Jones founded and helped design Augusta National.  He also co-founded the Masters Tournament.  Unfortunately he had to retire from the game at only 28 years old.  He was one of the most influential figures of the game.

  • The Legend of Bagger Vance - 2000

This stars Will Smith and Matt Damon.  A golfer who’s going through rough times enters a tournament, only to be encouraged and advised by a mystical caddie.

  • The Greatest Game Ever Played - 2005

This is a Disney movie staring Shia Labeouf.  He plays a young golfer who has an incredible amount of skill for his age.  He leaves his Dad’s store to eventually take on the best golfer in the world at one of golfs biggest tournament.

  • Caddyshack - 1980

    A classic.  That is all.

  • Caddyshack 2 - 1988

A decent follow-up to the first one and it just doesn’t get enough credit.
