Lady Gaga Reveals Chromatica Ball Film Release Date
After two years since she first announced it, Lady Gaga reveals that her Chromatica Ball concert film will finally be hitting streamers soon.
The “Rain on Me” singer announced on her social media Wednesday (May 8) that her Chromatica Ball concert film will be available later this month on HBO and its streamer, Max, on May 25th at 8 pm ET.
Lady Gaga Reveals The Story Behind The Film
The film was first announced in 2022. Footage from her stadium world tour supporting her 2020 album Chromatica will be featured in the concert film. She wrote to her “Little Monsters” on Instagram: “I’m so excited that we can finally share The Chromatica Ball film with the world. This film chronicles a time of immense creativity…the fashion, the dance, the music. Revisiting the tour leaves me speechless the way we had each other—you all showed up for music and art in a big way, and with a level of excitement and freedom that I will never forget. Stadium after stadium. Sold out crowds. The deafening singalongs.”
Gaga, 38, called the album “colorful revenge,” with “the chaos of it all became pure energy and life. With a texture best experienced live.” Quoting lyrics from her “Babylon” track, Gaga added: “STRUT IT OUT, WALK A MILE, SERVE IT ANCIENT CITY STYLE.”
As the pop icon points out, all of her songs’ themes are about “self-acceptance.” The award-winning singer-songwriter added some inspiring words in her caption: “I believe it is always possible to dig deep and find your greatness. Self-discovery is an art. Self-love is a practice.”
She mentioned how much she loves her “Little Monsters,” and they shared the love right back. Responding to her Instagram announcement, fans wrote things like, “I’m CRYING! That was my first Lady Gaga concert… that was sooo special for me. [sobbing emoji]Thanks mama.” Another simply stated: “FINALLY MOTHER.” A third fan wrote: “‘I’ve always just said… I was just Born This Way.'”
In a separate post, Gaga shared images of her posing in the editing studio. The Grammy-winner detailed the “countless hours” that she put in for editing the film to bring her vision for this film to life. She wrote: “It is my gift to you — directed, produced and created by me, alongside some of the most talented, creative people in the world [black heart emoji].”
The Chromatica Ball tour was initially scheduled for summer 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gaga also serves as director and producer on the project.
