How much does a North Carolina gym membership cost compared to other places? MyProtein recently conducted a study that named New York as the most expensive state for gym-goers. Which probably doesn't come as much of a shock. In fact NYC had an average cost of $105.56 for a monthly membership. The next highest cost? $77 in DC. In contrast, the cheapest state, Alabama, has an average gym cost of $22.

Myprotein used cost of living data to uncover the prices of gym memberships across the country. Obviously gym memberships can very dramatically from discount places charging around $10 to boutique fitness gyms charging in the hundreds for a month.
