It truly feels like we’re in the dog days of Summer right now. We’re all sick of the weather, and looking forward to things like football Sundays, sweaters, and pumpkin Spice Latte’s.

While we still have a few more weeks of Summer left, you may as well make the most of it! I’m supposed to go tubing down the Catawba river on Saturday, and I’m just hoping I only get moderate sunburn…

If you’re hanging around town though, there is plenty of stuff to check out.

Here is a list of my top picks of things to do this weekend in Charlotte!

• An Emo & Pop Punk Pajama Party

  Party like it’s 2008 at Amos’ South End this Friday! Rock out to  your dream pop-punk rock playlist, featuring artists like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and Paramore. The party starts at 9pm and costs $12-$15.

• Keith Urban – The Speed of Now World Tour

  Keith Urban will be at PNC Music Pavillion on Friday night. Since all your favorite country hits from him, and maybe even keep a lookout for his wife, Nicole Kidman?? The show starts at 7pm, and tickets are $29.50+.

• CLT Free Skate Summer Sessions

  How fun! Come out and enjoy an outdoor roller-rink skate. This event is happening at Victoria Yards from 3-10 on Friday. There will be music, food trucks and other vendors.

• 5K at Five Points Plaza

  Start your Saturday off right! Run a 5k that goes through the Biddleville neighborhood. At the end of the race, you can enjoy and celebrate with a big backyard-style barbecue party. There will also be a 1-Mile Fun Run for runners who want a shorter race. The race starts off at 8am and costs $40-$45.

• South End Farmers Market

  Stock up on your fresh fruits and veggies on Saturday morning at Atherton Market. Support local vendors as they will be out there starting at 8am until 1pm.

• Sketching and Pastries

  This event sounds like the cutest way to spend you Saturday with a girlfriend. Stop by Amélie’s French Bakery & Café NoDa and join Charlotte Urban Sketchers for a sketching session with by coffee, tea and pastries. You don’t have to be a professional artists to attend. The event is free and runs from 10 to noon.

• Buff Faye’s Pride Kick-Off Drag Brunch at Gilde

  It’s PRIDE month in Charlotte, and what better way to celebrate the kick off that with Miss Buff Faye and her divas. Come to this drag brunch on Saturday, starting at 11, and you’ll get food with a show. Tickets cost $35

• Soak City at Resident Culture Brewing Plaza Midwood

  This is the perfect weather for those who are over the heat! Come to Resident Culture in Plaza Midwood on Saturday and you can enjoy a slip ‘n’ slide, a dunk tank, axe throwing, live music, food trucks and more. Don’t forget to bring a towel and wear something you don’t mind getting wet. the event runs from 1-5pm and is free.

• Pick Up at the Park at Freedom Park

  One of Charlotte’s most beautiful parks needs some picking up! You can help clean Freedom Park on Sunday. Pick up litter and debris using the gloves and trash bags provided. There will also be a lunch following the clean-up. Meet near the train by the playground at 10am.

• Slay Sunday Y2K Drag Brunch

  Celebrate PRIDE in Charlotte this weekend at Queen Park Social. The queens of the Vanity House are performing songs from your early 2000’s dreams. She show starts at 11am and costs $25+

• The Broken Crayon: School Supply Drive at Camp North End

  Back to school time can be stressful for families. If you’re able to help out families in need, join BlkMrktClt this Sunday at they are hosting their first school supply drive to benefit local families, students and Title 1 school teachers. You can donate things like notepads, pencils and backpacks. The drive is going on from 1-4pm.
