Raise your hand if you’re ready for a long weekend? You can’t see me, but if you could you would see me almost dislocating my shoulder to shoot my hand up. We’re in the dog days of Summer, and we all deserve to have a bit of fun this weekend.
While a lot of people are traveling this weekend, if you are staying put in Charlotte, there is still plenty of stuff going on.
Here are some of my top picks of events that are going on around town for the long holiday weekend.
Open Swim at The Quarry at Carrigan Farms
Looking for a place to swim and cool off this weekend? Check out the natural spring quarry at Carrigan Farms. Swimmers must pass a swim test to be in the water without a life jacket. Reserve your place to go anytime this Summer. $20-$30.
Red, White, & Brews at Sycamore Brewing:
Celebrate the 4th of July all weekend at Sycamore. They will have food trucks, live music, and select $4 beer. Free.
Doomsday and Night Exhibition Opening at Goodyear Arts Camp North End
60 artists have developed this exhibit, drawing inspiration from comic book culture, life during the pandemic and other obsession-worthy subjects. Check it out on Friday from 6-9pm. Free.
Chicago Live at PNC Music Pavilion
Friday night, Chicago is in Charlotte. The show starts at 7pm. $35+
4th of July Weekend Cookout at OMB
Enjoy some yummy food like burgers, sausages, brisket and pulled pork, plus classic sides like baked beans and potato salad and corn on the cob. They will have live music, and activities for the kids too! Saturday, starting at 11am.
Red, White, & Brewfest at Brewers at 4001 Yancey
Celebrate the 4th on Saturday with a “boozy” popsicle or a Red, White, & Blue slushy. They’ll have fancy hot dogs on the menu, plus, live music, and fun games. Stop by Saturday from 11am to 10pm. Free.
Red White and Brew Bar Crawl at Slingshot:
Play some fun games, and enjoy a barcrawl at some of South Ends most popular bars. Participating bars include All American Brewery, Lost and Found, Hoppin’, Slingshot and Resident Culture. This event is happening on Saturday from 2-9pm. $19.99
Fourth of July Celebration at the Whitewater Center
The Whitewater Center is celebrating the 4th of July all weekend long. They will have races, live music, but unfortunately they will not have a fireworks show this year. July 3 & 4, starting at 9am. Free to attend. $6 for parking.
Front Porch Sundays at Atherton Mill
Front Porch Sundays are a summer Charlotte staple now. Come shop a bunch of vendors on Sunday at Atherton Mill, starting at 11.
Skyshow at Truist Field
If you’re looking for a fireworks show this weekend, this will be the big one! Monday night, head to Truist Field or look up around it for a big fireworks show for the 4th of July!
The Bash at Charlotte Beer Garden
Celebrate 4th of July on Monday at Beer Garden. They will have drink specials, live music and fun games from 3-9pm. Free, donations appreciated.
