But there are other Menopause symptoms that are fairly common you may not associate.  Menopause typically affects women between the ages of 45-55. To help, experts at Healthily have shared information on some of the less common symptoms that women should look out for:

1. Painful sex

One common but widely unknown (and not talked about) symptom of menopause is painful sex.

2. Dry skin

Menopause can cause the skin to feel thinner, drier, or even less elastic.  The can be helped with moisturizer and using products with SPF.

3. Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Many women going through menopause experience UTIs, due to the urethra becoming shorter and the lining getting thinner.

4. Fractures

Menopause can cause oestrogen levels to drop and bones to become weaker. This can lead to Osteoporosis. Eating a balanced and healthy diet such as milk, cheese, kale, and fish can help combat this.

5. Brittle nails

Lower oestrogen levels also leads to brittle nails.

6. Hair loss / thinning

While this can be concerning using soft shampoos and eating a well-balanced diet featuring iron, iodine, B-vitamins or zinc can help.

7. Aches and pains

Smaller joints such as hands and feet can be painful during menopause.
