The bird flu is causing a massive egg shortage, and if you're not sure what to make for breakfast anymore, here are some ideas of good breakfast options without having to use eggs.

Some stores are even going so far as limiting the amount of eggs that customers can buy. I have to believe that is in part because of peoples tendency to panic buy items once they hear there is a shortage of anything, but nonetheless, you may have a hard time finding eggs in stores for the time being.

If you're like me, eggs are a staple for your morning. My go-to breakfast is a sausage, spinach and feta cheese omelet. Eggs are a great source protein, so many people love to use them in their breakfast. Luckily, there are some other breakfast options you can try while the egg shortage is going on.

Here are some alternatives to an egg-based breakfast:

Overnight Oats

Overnight oats are not only a great source of fiber, but they are incredible easy to make. Another added bonus to overnight oats is that you can grab them and go in the morning, so it saves you time! If you're worried about protein intake, you can always add protein powder to your overnight oat recipe; they are very customizable.

Yogurt Bowls

Yogurt is one of those foods I always forget about. Add some fresh fruit (or frozen fruit), granola, and honey, and you've got an amazing breakfast option. If you want to make this option a little more well balances, and "healthy," use Greek Yogurt, which is an amazing source of protein.

Cereal

Cereal is always underrated in my opinion. It's quick, easy, and there are so many variations or flavors, and types that you can get whatever your heart desires. Recently, I've been obsessed with the Kashi Peanut Butter Cereal!

Chia Pudding

Similar to overnight oats, Chia pudding is one of those breakfast foods that is not only very customizable, but it's a make-ahead dish, so you can grab it and go in the morning. It also PACKED with Fiber and by adding Greek yogurt, or protein powder, you can really up the protein amounts in the dish as well!

Protein Pancakes

Love a sweet breakfast? Try protein pancakes! They have them in the frozen aisles at the store, and also in the baking aisle, depending on how much time you have in the morning. There are also plenty of recipes online to make your own versions at home.

Smoothies

Smoothies are always my go-to breakfast in the warmer months. I love them because you add just about anything into them to make them a balanced meal. It's so easy to hide veggies in smoothies, and you won't even taste them. Not to mention, you can switch up flavors very easily. Below is my favorite smoothie recipe!
