NELIGH, NE - SEPTEMBER 28: Dillon Smith gets popcorn for customers in the concession stand at the TK/Starlite Drive-In Theater on September 28, 2013 in Neligh, Nebraska. The theater, which opened in 1952, is one of only two drive-in theaters left in Nebraska, a state that once had almost 50. At the peak of their popularity in the late 1950s there were between 4 and 5 thousand drive-in theaters in the United States, there are now only about 350. As movie studios begin to phase out distribution of 35mm film prints in favor of digital media, the high cost drive-in theaters face when switching to a digital projection system is expected to force more of these theaters to close. It’s a new year, and with that comes a lot of excitement. One thing to get excited about is the list of awesome movies that should be coming out this year. As the past two years with COVID have taught us, there could always be delays but here are 10 movies that should be coming out in 2022 that you should be excited about!

  • Turning Red - March 11th

Disney Animation never seems to let me down, and their latest movie, Turning Red, will be out in March.

  • Scream - Jan 14th

I’m a huge fan of the original Scream movies, so I’ve been anticipating this next installment since I heard it was being made.

  • Lightyear - June 17th

Talk about an iconic character; Buzz Lightyear

This Pixar movie will give us an origin story to the character we’ve loved for decades.

  • Black Adam - July 29th

This one is for you comic-book fans! Dwayne Johnson is starring in The Black Adam movie coming out this summer.

  • Avatar 2 - Dec 16th

A movie that is over a decade in the making, will Avatar 2 break the original Avatar movie’s amazing record of being the highest grossing movie of all time?

  • Untitled 'Knives Out' Sequel

One of my more recent favorite movies; Knives Out is getting a sequel. Daniel Craig will be back with a new ensemble, and new location; the Mediterranean.

This release date is still TBD.

  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - November 11th

Emotions will be high on this one after the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman, the original Black Panther. Plot details are still under wraps for this one, but after the huge success of the first movie, this one is sure to be a success.

  • Jackass Forever - February 4th

Obviously this one is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but it will see most of the original Jackass cast back together, which for fans will be all they need!

  • Top Gun: Maverick - May 27th

After more than 30 years, a Top Gun sequel is officially here.

  • The Lost City - March 25th

This one got me excited for the cast alone, but then I saw the trailer, and it looks hilarious.
