Stay Well Campaign – We Can Do This with Meet Dr, Samira L. Brown


Francene Marie had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Samira L. Brown – Board-Certified Primary Care Pediatrician at Piedmont Pediatrics located in Atlanta Georgia.  

Covid-19 Vaccines for our children is an important conversation we need to have. Stay Well, the We Can Do This Campaign is serving African American families with vital information that include Townhall meetings, Virtual events and conversations. In fact the next vaccine event will be in Inglewood on April 28th, but all cities are rolling out a bridge to connect families with healthcare professionals.

Background: The Stay Well campaign is a partnership between the Cobb Institute and the We Can Do This campaign to increase vaccine access in Black and African American communities.

To date the campaign has hosted a series of pop-up events that have been attended by more than 3,000 people, with more than 1,000 of whom decided to get their vaccines.

Learn more about Dr. Samira Brown: 

Dr. Samira L. Brown is a board-certified primary care pediatrician who grew up in New England. Her parents, both college professors, raised her with one expectation, to give back to her community. Dr. Brown’s love of working with children led her to pediatrics, and throughout her career she has been a passionate advocate for patients and families. Her philosophy is that every child and family should receive high-quality and equitable care.

Dr. Brown is a proud alumna of Xavier University of Louisiana and Harvard Medical School. She completed her pediatric training at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center, one of the nation’s top residency programs. She then decided to return to New Orleans post-Katrina to help in the city’s recovery.

Dr. Brown became Medical Director of both her primary care clinic and newborn nursery focusing on childhood obesity, breastfeeding promotion and quality of care. She has over 10 years of clinical experience caring for children of all ages and has lectured both nationally and internationally. Dr. Brown is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the National Medical Association. She has been listed as one of the Best Doctors in America® and has served as a medical expert on local and national media outlets including the TODAY show and NBC Nightly News. Dr. Brown now calls Atlanta home where she continues to practice primary care.
