Francene Marie interviews the President & CEO of Communities In Schools – Men Tchaas Ari located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The organization is a school-based program that places professional staff in schools to provide (free) case-managed services to students in selected CMS schools, primarily Title 1/low income schools. CIS currently supports 53 CMS schools.
Men Tchaas Ari is the first African-American to lead the agency in its 34-year history. CIS is Charlotte’s largest nonprofit serving largest number of children who are overwhelmingly children of color (97%, or ~6,000 children annually).
