Not everyone has a knack for spelling; in fact, some of the smartest people in the world, such as Albert Einstein, were terrible spellers! Today, we discuss some of the most misspelled words in certain states.
In a study conducted by the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC, researchers found each state’s most misspelled word. After testing our spelling skills with these words and some others, we were able to get an idea of how these words are so commonly spelled incorrectly (we had a hard time spelling “restaurant”). Here’s a list of all of the state words that we checked out:
- North Carolina – angel
- South Carolina – chihuahua
- New Jersey – twelve
- Florida – receipt
- Virginia – delicious
- Connecticut – supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
- California – beautiful
