It’s always a nice gesture to give an end-of-the-year gift to a teacher who has done a nice job! But what about the ones that are just so amazing or bizarre that they are remembered forever?
To start out the discussion, we talk of some of the weirder gifts that teachers have received, courtesy of an article found on Thought Catalog. The list included some mildly-obscene coffee mugs, fur-covered handcuffs, underwear, coat hangers, and an bunch of toiletries wrapped in a rubber band. We then heard from one of our listeners, a former volleyball player, who received a volleyball signed by all of her students! Another caller then claimed that she received “a stick from a student’s backyard that had McDonald’s toys taped on the sides” as a gift from a student. Now THAT is thinking out of the box. While some might see that as somewhat bizarre, she claimed that the second grader’s gift was the best that she had ever gotten! As our caller quotes, “it’s the thought that counts”.
