Charlotte is gearing up this March, launching Women's History Month with a fun Barbie Career Scavenger Hunt on March 4.

Ten different events will take place across the city's favorite spots. The fun kicks off at Resident Culture Brewing on March 7, when local comedians take the stage for a Stand-up Comedy Showcase from 7 to 9 p.m.

Celebrate Women's History Month in Charlotte

West Boulevard Library hosts "HER Story = OUR Story" with Terri White on March 11. Then the Gantt Center comes alive for an exciting Art After Dark experience on March 14, spanning 7 pm to 11 pm.

Kids will get inspired at Ballantyne Arts Center's 'Girl Power' Live Story Time on March 17. This hands-on session shares stories that help develop reading skills while motivating young listeners.

Learning takes flight at Pineville Library's Women and Girls in Astronomy workshop, March 22 from 2 pm to 3 pm. Later that evening, the University City Regional Library hosts an essential Sister to Sister Health Seminar.

These events continue a long tradition of celebrating women's achievements. Congress first recognized Women's History Week in 1982 through Public Law 97-28, then made it a month-long celebration five years later.

Since 1995, every president has signed annual proclamations for Women's History Month, following Congress's yearly declarations from 1988 to 1994. The National Women's History Project drives these efforts, working to ensure women's stories reach schools and communities across the country.

The celebration traces back to the historic 19th Amendment in 1920, which gave women the right to vote. Each March highlights women's amazing contributions in every field.
