Charlotte: Getting The Christmas Card Picture Done

Early November is not too soon to start thinking about Christmas cards and that family Christmas picture that goes on the cards.

I may be old-school, but I still believe in sending physical Christmas cards with pictures of the family on them. I get fewer and fewer physical Christmas cards from my friends and family but I think it’s important to send out our own.

We have a tradition that Thanksgiving night, after all the food is eaten and the shopping has been discussed, my husband, my two kids, and I sit at the table, and we get our Christmas cards together. My son puts on the stamps. My daughter puts on stickers. I write the addresses, and my husband stuffs the card into the envelope. It’s a tradition we’ve done for many years now. As a matter of fact, I take a Christmas card picture each year, and it’s a fun way to document how my kids have grown. I have one from every year since they were born.

Lately, the postage stamps and the cards themselves have become a little bit of an expensive habit, but I feel it’s worth it.

Many times for the Christmas card, we use a fun picture from a vacation we had that year at Disney World or being out and about, but we’ve also gone to a professional photographer to take that picture to get it just right.

As we start out the month of November, when we celebrate Thanksgiving in three or four weeks, I did a little dive and found some of the places in Charlotte for professional photographers you can take the perfect Christmas picture so you’re ready to send out the cards before the holiday, which tends to approach so quickly.

Christmas Mini Sessions are a great way to capture your holiday photos. Session times are usually short (between 5 minutes and 20 minutes) and in a beautiful location.
