Marlon Wayans has been hinting at the fact that he had a special announcement coming, but he took to social media Tuesday, Oct. 29, and finally gave us what we have been asking for. The return of the Wayans brothers and the Scary Movie franchise!
Scary Movie (the original) debuted in 2000 and is an American slasher parody film playing off of the Scream franchise and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The film was directed by older brother, Keenan Wayans, and written by younger brothers, Shawn and Marlon Wayans. The film grossed over $270 million worldwide on a $19 million budget. Following the success of the first film came the Scary Movie series which includes 5 different films. Scary Movie 5, the last of the series, was released in 2013. After over a 10-year break, looks like the Wayans brothers are ready to bring Scary Movie BACK!
Wayans Brothers Teaming Up for Scary Movie 6
Marlon Wayans took to Instagram to make the special announcement with a photo of him and the scream character. The post said, "Last week i said i had a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT to make well here it is WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise! We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again."
Many took to his comments to show their excitement, including a few celebrities. Charlotte rapper, DaBaby, commented, "I WANT IN!!!" Others took to the comment section to encourage them to call Regina Hall to be part of the return as well.
Scary Movie 6 is in the works with a Wayans Brothers twist and everyone is excited. There is no official announcement on the date we can expect to see Scary Movie 6, but we sure are happy to know it's in the works. Who's ready for a Wayans Brothers special like this?
