This past weekend, Swift was performing in New Orleans during her Eras Tour and brought out Carpenter to surprise the fans.
Swift told fans during her special set that she was going to switch things up a bit and sing a song not in her discography. Instead, she sang a song from Carpenter's discography instead. "I think tonight I'm going to do something completely different, which is that I'm going to sing a song that's not mine, but it's somebody that I really love," said Swift.
Swift went into detail about her love for Carpenter and discussed how proud she was of her and the year she has been having. "I'm just so proud of Sabrina and the year she's had," said Swift. She also mentioned how just a little while ago, Carpenter was on tour with Swift and now she is off doing big things on her own tour following her Short n' Sweet album.
Taylor Swift Surprises Fans with Sabrina Carpenter in New Orleans
Swift sang some of Carpenter's hit song, "Espresso," and as the crowd sang along she continued to give her praise. Then, Swift grabbed her phone from someone on the side to "call" Carpenter. She said, "I'm really somewhere really loud, I'm in New Orleans on the Eras Tour," Swift said into the phone. "I just wanted to call and tell you that I sang a little bit of 'Espresso' and they said every word so loud. And I just wanted to say we all love you so much. What are you doing? Why aren't you here with us?"
Moments later, Carpenter responds, "I'm somewhere where everyone is screaming so loud." The Swift answers, "I'm somewhere where people are screaming so loud. Can you come down to the stadium real quick? Ball park how long would that take you?"
"It would probably take me five seconds," Carpenter responded. The crowd went crazy and erupted in cheers as they already knew what this meant. Carpenter slowly struts out during the Eras Tour to surprise fans and sing a bit of Espresso with her friend, Taylor Swift. They began to perform and sing the acoustic version of "Espresso" mixed with Swift's "Is It Over Now" and Carpenter's "Please, Please, Please" as the crowd cheerfully sang along.
Carpenter made her way to the show in the middle of her tour to make this happen. She took to social media to express her love and gratitude to Swift. Her caption read, "only stage i’d ever wanna see on a day off !!!! thank you for working late, thank you for being a singer and thank you for having me🤍 @taylorswift i love you!!"
All 6 Songs Taylor Swift Cut From The Eras Tour Setlist
A new version of the Eras Tour debuted in Paris on May 9th. I hypothesized some songs would be cut to make room for tracks from her latest project The Tortured Poets Department. And yes unfortunately some songs were in fact cut from the Eras Tour setlist.
And as the night (luckily afternoon here in North Carolina) began it seemed to be going the way of the song(s) I hypothesized.
But then things got a little chaotic. To say the least. Eras changed order, were combined, songs were cut, and new outfits. It was confusing, and fun to watch in real time. And it was a little bittersweet when I realized what the songs cut from the eras tour setlist were.
And the songs/performances added are worth any price we had to pay. Seriously that may be worth the (mindblowingly expensive) price of admission.
So here are all the songs that we said goodbye to on the setlist. Thankfully we can still stream them on Disney +! See a full rundown of everything added and the chaos Paris brought here.
6 Songs Cut From The Eras Tour Setlist
1. The Archer
Taylor left "The Archer" off the theater version of the Eras Tour so I expected this one right out of the gate. And that's what we got. I adore this track so I'm sad to see it go, but I never expected it to make the setlist in the first place.
2. Long Live
While this may be one of the hardest losses for a lot of fans, I expected it. "Long Live" was only added after the release of Speak Now (Taylor's Version). So I had a feeling it would be one to go as well. While I'm sad I won't get to experience it on the Eras Tour (the two shows I've already been to were pre it being added), I'm thankful I've seen it live a handful of times. So if that means seeing songs I haven't heard live before it's worth it to me.
