Labor Day is next weekend and you are probably finalizing those vacation plans or contemplating last-minute vacations. If you are still looking, there are plenty of places you can visit in North Carolina. Take a last-minute road trip with the family or by yourself and enjoy an extended weekend outside of the city.

The Outer Banks, North Carolina

Of course, what's a better vacation destination besides the beach? North Carolina is home to a few beach towns but there is one that everyone seems to love. Readers Digest has named the Outer Banks as the best Labor Day vacation spot in North Carolina. Let's be clear, who doesn't love the beach? Especially before the cold weather makes its way to us.

The Outer Banks of North Carolina is made up of multiple islands, specifically four. The area is known to be a quiet, relaxing beach vacation destination. You are also able to learn a lot as there is so much history in the Outer Banks. Visit the Wrights Brothers first flight sight, the first English colony at Roanoke Island, and so much more!

If the quietness, beach, and history don't make you want to take a last-minute trip. Then, maybe the fact that the food is amazing might help! I have been to the Outer Banks and as a seafood lover from Charleston, the food in the Outer Banks was amazing. So much seafood and desserts, it was nonstop great spots to try while on vacation. If you are contemplating a North Carolina road trip then you should probably pack those bags and gas up the car and head to the Outer Banks.
