This may make your skin crawl, but it’s Bed Bug Awareness Week. Nobody wants to think about them, but they’re out there and according to Click Orlando, new research reveals where we’re most likely to find them. The crazy part is that HALF of the cities are popular vacation destinations.

  • Pest Gnome has just come out with their list of 2024’s Worst Cities for Bed Bug Infestations.
  • They compared the 500 biggest cities in the country on three categories: infestation risk, pest control access and urban density.
  • The cities were ranked on factors including exterminators per 10-thousand homes, average monthly Google searches for bed bug-related keywords in the last year, and the number of used furniture stores, since the pests can hitch a ride on your pre-loved luggage and furniture.
  • New York City is the worst city for bed bug infestations this year, coming in first for bed bug Google searches, number of used furniture stores and population density.
  • On the flip side, the cities with the least risk of bed bug infestation are St George, Utah, and Edmond, Oklahoma.

NYC, LA, Chicago, Miami, and DC are all popular vacation destinations. The crazy thing about what they all have in common is that they are bed bug-infested. Think about that when you check into your hotels this summer on vacation.
