Aldi’s Aisle Of Shame And The Story Behind It
If you’ve ever been to Aldi, you know there are always deals on groceries, but while people are filling their carts with produce, pantry staples and frozen foods, there’s one part of the store that seems to be the favorite. It’s an aisle of items that usually has nothing to do with groceries, instead it’s filled with a range of inexpensive decor, kitchen gadgets, seasonal items and maybe even clothing. CNN reports it’s officially called the “Aldi Finds” aisle, but fans have a much more fun name for it: the “Aisle of Shame.” Ohhhh. So “scandy!!”
According to the grocery store chain, it’s a “rotating assortment of specialty items available for a limited time,” and it could be anything from a hammock to a dog sweater to a pair of $13 sneakers. The selection is refreshed weekly, usually on Wednesdays, and people know it. There’s a rush on Wednesdays, thanks in part to some die-hard shoppers, nearly 3-million of whom belong to the Aldi Aisle of Shame Facebook page, where they post about their fun finds.
People love it because you never know what you’ll find there and it’s bound to be a bargain. Of course, if you’re trying to stick to a food budget, those little extras do add up fast. But if you love the thrill of discovering something new and unexpected, the items in the aisle of shame change weekly, so grab it when you see it because it may not be back.
I don’t really shop Aldi, but my friend does. Now I know why is junk drawer has doubled in size!
