North Carolina and South Carolina beaches are among the most shark infested beaches in the world. I don't know about you but I am more the dip my toe in the ocean kind of girl. If I get above the ankles, I start looking for fins. I respect the fact that the ocean is for them and the sandy beach is for me. The ocean is their home. So, just what are the chances of encountering a shark in North Carolina and South Carolina?

It is good to know if you are a beach lover, that there are some coastal areas sharks love more than others. And maybe you are thinking you are absolutely safe in shallow water. Not true. Some sharks actually thrive in the shallows.

It's a gorgeous strip of land that looks inviting but be careful there because it is "teeming with sharks". Attacks sometimes happen there. A variety of sharks swim in those water including blacknose, tiger and bull sharks. The chances of getting bitten are relatively low but the chances of seeing them are high.

North Carolina is another popular spot for sharks to gather. Emerald Isle Beach in North Carolina is considered one of the world's most shark infested beaches. The coastal waters off Emerald Isle is a major migration route for sharks. A shark super highway if you will. Sunsets are a particularly dangerous time to swim because that is when sharks feed.
