Save Money At Starbucks By Reducing Your Waste
Starbucks is expanding its personal cup program in a move to meet waste reduction goals beginning in the new year.
Going green means adopting practices that are environmentally friendly. Individuals need to go green because it helps to reduce their carbon footprint. This will preserve the environment for future generations. There are several ways to go green, and some of them include:
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle:
This is one of the easiest ways to go green. By reducing your consumption of materials, reusing items, and recycling, you can significantly reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. This helps to conserve resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
According to Foodsided, Michael Kobori, Starbucks chief sustainability officer says “At Starbucks, we envision a future where every beverage can be served in a reusable cup. We know our customers are passionate about the planet. And now, they can join us in our efforts to give more than we take, no matter how they order.”
The Starbucks personal cup program begins with a guest telling their barista that they are using their own clean cup. Then, delivering the cup without a lid to the barista. It can be filled at the counter, drive-thru, or via the app but the key to the process is that the cup must be clean. Guests save $0.10 per order and Starbucks Rewards members get 25 bonus stars on their account. There’s no word on how baristas will determine if a personal cup is clean or not.
Starbucks warns that there could be a few hiccups in the process. As cups will have to be passed back and forth in the drive-thru and it could add a few minutes to get your drink. So, patience will be necessary to adjust to the changes in the process. The company hopes that customers will be cooperative and the end result will be well worth any minor problems that may pop up.
How it helps:
By adopting these and other environmentally friendly practices, individuals can make a positive impact on the environment and help to preserve it for future generations. Which is exactly what Starbucks is trying to do!
I am not sure if this will apply to the new Target drive-up coffees. However, if you weren’t away, Target is letting you add a Starbucks coffee to your drive-up orders now, too!
