A South Carolina police officer is being hailed as a hero. This after he saved the life of a two-year-old toddler who fell out of a moving car onto Interstate 26. Police Corporal Jason Marzan is a four-year veteran with the North Charleston Police and a retired Army serviceman. WALB reports he was nearby when he received the call about the toddler who fell out of the car last Tuesday morning and raced to the scene.
Marzan found the toddler lying on the roadway and quickly worked to apply a tourniquet to control the bleeding from the child's severed arm. Paramedics arrived moments later and rushed the toddler to an area hospital. The good news is that doctors were able to surgically reattach her arm. A few days after the incident, she’s already regaining sensation in her fingers.
A father of six himself, Marzan expressed gratitude for the hospital staff's remarkable work. He emphasized that not every police call has such a positive outcome. He says that helping save a child's life in this way is one of the most rewarding aspects of his job. That has inspired him to continue serving as a police officer.
I love heartwarming stories like this. It could have turned out so much worse, but we are very happy it didn't. It's always nice to see such a happy ending like this when it could have been a tragedy in just a split second.
