Ever wonder what the best city for Halloween is? One South Carolina city tops the list!

People don’t wait until October 31st to start celebrating Halloween, there are all kinds of activities happening across the country to get you in the holiday spirit. Visiting a pumpkin patch may be great for those looking for family-friendly fun, but if you’re looking for something edgier, a new report reveals the top places to get your fright on.

Travel site The Travel has scoured the U.S. to find the spookiest cities for Halloween, based on the number of Halloween-themed tours and ghost excursions they offer. These are the best cities for scares this time of year:

10) Nashville, Tennessee - From the historic pubs that are reportedly haunted to the tours available, this southern city is creepy, in all the right ways. Their top-rated Halloween tour is Nashville's Seeking Spirits Haunted Pub Crawl.

9) Key West, Florida - It’s home to the East Fort Martello Museum, which is said to be one of the most haunted buildings in the country and you can check it out for yourself in their top-rated tour: Robert the Doll Experience VIP Ghost Tour at Fort East Martello

8) St. Augustine, Florida - Another Florida beach town, this one features late-night tours that explore the urban legends and true history in the “Nation’s Oldest City.” Their top-rated tour is the Ghost Tour of St. Augustine: The Original Haunted History Tour

7) Louisville, Kentucky - Legend has it you can still feel the ghosts of the prohibition era and derbies past here and Louisville also has one of the best Halloween festivals in the U.S., as well as the top-rated tour: The Glitter Ball City Walking Tour

6) Charleston, South Carolina - Folks who aren’t afraid of walking among the dead can try one of the city’s graveyard tours, or their top-rated tour: the Haunted Evening Horse and Carriage Tour of Charleston.

5) Boston, Massachusetts - This city is full of history and ghosts, if you believe the rumors. There are all kinds of tours to choose from and the top-rated one is the Boston Ghosts and Gravestones Trolley Tour.

4) Savannah, Georgia - They truly embrace spooky season here, where you can check out everything from haunted locales to the Savannah History and Haunts Candlelit Ghost Walking Tour, their top-rated tour.

2) Salem, Massachusetts - The site of the famous Salem Witch Trials also offers several bucket list-worthy tours, including the top-rated History and Hauntings of Salem Guided Walking Tour.

1) New Orleans, Louisiana - It earns the title as the best city for Halloween because it’s home to more tours exploring the weird, spooky and unexplained than anywhere else in the country. But if you’re looking for the top-rated one, it’s the Adults-Only New Orleans Ghost, True Crime, Voodoo and Vampire Walking Tour.

How Long It Takes To Burn Off Halloween Candy Calories

After we binged on tons of candy, we have to ask ourselves this. How long does it take to burn off Halloween candy calories?

Having leftover Halloween candy seems like a good thing. That's until you find yourself with a pile of empty wrappers because you can’t resist the sweet treats. And we get it, it’s hard to stay disciplined with all that sugar in the house. This is why you tell yourself you’ll just have one small treat and end up eating a huge handful.

Maybe your temptation is more than your willpower can handle. Then knowing what you’ll need to do to burn those candy calories off may help you to stop reaching into the bowl for more. National Academy of Sports Medicine has done the math and based on a weight of 180 pounds, this is the exercise that it’ll take to work off the calories in some popular Halloween candies.

But just because a candy is your favorite, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for you (although who is really thinking about their health on Halloween). Today asked two nutrition experts Mia Syn, registered dietitian nutritionist, and Brigid Titgemeier, a functional nutrition registered dietitian, to pick the three best and worst candies. PayDay, Twizzlers and York Peppermint Patties were the healthiest. 3 Musketeers, Mounds and Skittles are the worst.

Here's some of my favs and how long it takes to burn off the Halloween candy calories..

Snickers

Each Fun Size Snickers bar has 160 calories, which will require 125 minutes of pushups to burn off, and that’s if you go really hard since the calorie burn ranges between four and 11 per minute.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Sure, the peanut butter in these treats has protein, but each Fun Size Cup also comes with 110 calories. And you’ll need to jump rope for nearly half an hour (27.5 minutes) to clear that cup.

These colorful fruity candies contain 60 calories per fun sized bag and it takes 7.5 minutes of punching a boxing bag to work those off.

Fans of these chewy, sour treats should know that a five-ounce bag has 150 calories and to burn those off, you’ll be slamming battle ropes for a solid 13 minutes.
