Having a positive mental attitude is important for our physical and emotional health. Sometimes though, being upbeat can feel as impossible as climbing Mt. Everest. The thing is, positivity helps us deal with setbacks and bounce back from them more easily. So when you feel sad, frustrated, jealous or anxious, try this 12-second trick to train your brain be in a more positive place. We all have negative thoughts and they’re totally normal. The thing is we need less negative thinking and it’s actually possible to trick your brain into being more positive.

According to neuropsychologist Dr. Rick Hanson, our brains only need 12 seconds to build new connections between an experience and an emotion.

Try this 12-second trick to train your brain to be more positive according to PureWow:

  • To do it, spend at least 12 seconds thinking about a positive memory, image or relationship.
  • Sit with it, focus on all the reasons your brain classifies it as something good.
  • Continue doing this anytime you feel yourself veering into negative territory.
  • Over time, your brain will train itself to look on the bright side, instead of dwelling on the negativity.

Now, this doesn’t mean you have to ignore bad things, sometimes they come up and we have to deal with them. But this trick can help rewire your brain to lean into positivity, instead of negativity. And that can only help when we face challenging situations.

A Study Says This Is The Most Fun City In North Carolina

What would you say is the most fun city in North Carolina? It has to be one of the largest right? Well, that is right. But how can you tell for sure? Especially when what people consider fun understandably varies? Maybe you like trying new restaurants, traveling, going to bars and clubs, or playing outdoor sports. Some people like to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Others enjoy riding roller coasters, going to the movies, or playing video games. All are fun for different people! But having fun can be expensive. Our friends at WalletHub report that the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the average American spends over $3,500 on entertainment per year. Somehow I feel like I exceed that.

But when people have such different preferences, what, then, makes a fun city? That's where WalletHub comes in.  They define a "fun city" as one that packs a little bit of everything for everyone. If you want a city with enough variety, you won’t have to compromise with your friends, your family, or even yourself about the next fun activity to participate in. So to help Americans find the cities with the greatest number and variety of fun yet cost-effective options, WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities based on 65 key metrics. They range from fitness centers per capita to movie costs to the average open hours of breweries. This helped them to compile their "Fun Cities List". So which is the most fun city in North Carolina? Keep reading to find out. You'll see where each NC and SC city ranked as well as the top 10. Do you agree? Let us know!
