Selena Gomez's newest song, "Single Soon" has people thinking it's about her ex, The Weeknd. When Gomez sings "I don't wanna see a tear, and the weekend's almost here," she’s not referring to the 33-year-old Canadian crooner. Another line that had fans thinking the song was about The Weekend was "I don’t wanna see a tear," which seemed to be a nod to his 2020 smash hit, "Save Your Tears." The song was also rumored to be about Selena.

Though Gomez and The Weekend, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, dated for ten months in 2017, the couple have been broken up for almost six years now. Gomez's new single is about the Only Murders In The Building star happily breaking up with a boyfriend and partying on her own. After Selena and Abel broke up, she got back together with on-and-off boyfriend Justin Bieber for the last time before he married Hailey Baldwin. Gomez has been tied to The Chainsmokers's Drew Taggart and Zayn Malik, but she posted on social media on several occasions that she is indeed single.

Debunking The Rumors Herself

Following the release of her single, HollywoodLife posted an image of Selena and Abel with the caption: "In case you missed it, #SelenaGomez released her newest song, 'Single Soon' earlier this week! Her fans believe that it is about her romance with #TheWeeknd. What do you think?" Gomez replied on the post: "Couldn’t be more false."

Regardless of who the song’s about, "Single Soon" marks Gomez's return to music, which she released Friday, August 25 with a music video. Prior to the release, she wrote of the track on Instagram: "Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer."

Selena Gomez made her big comeback to Instagram this year. The singer, actress, and Rare Beauty founder has been quite active on the social site in 2023, posting behind-the-scenes from her television show, Only Murders in the Building, hanging out with her favorite couple, and just overall thriving.

The Texas-born star got her start at a young age by starring in the children’s TV series Barney & Friends. Her real breakthrough was the leading role she played as Alex Russo for four seasons in Disney’s 2007 sitcom, Wizards of Waverly Place. In 2014, Gomez had been battling lupus, which became a matter of life and death, considering the long waiting lists for finding a donor. Along with the physical symptoms, she experienced depression, panic attacks, and eventually, had to undergo a kidney transplant. With just two weeks before having kidney failure, her friend, Francia Raisa, saved her life by donating one of her kidneys.

With an astounding 426 million Instagram followers, 58.9 million TikTok followers, and 66.7 million Twitter followers, the woman has quite the influence online. Despite that, she still gets online hate. Just earlier this year, Gomez called out body-shamers and revealed that the cause of her weight fluctuations is due to her lupus medication.

"I tend to hold a lot of water weight and that happens very normally. And then when I’m off of it, I tend to lose weight," Gomez explained during a TikTok Live video that was shared via Twitter. "I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through, and nobody knows the real story. So, I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful. And, yeah, maybe we have days where we feel like s—. But, I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself."

Take a look below at Selena Gomez's most stunning photos of 2023.

Blondie

In the third slide, Gomez evokes her inner Barbie, donning a complete blonde transformation. While sitting at a table, the "Calm Down" singer wears a bright red lip and a sheer, mint-colored dress. To prove she actually went blonde, Gomez posted a fourth picture to her post, which clearly shows her natural color growing out of the blonde. Selena shows she looks good in anything no matter what hair color she's rocking!

Versace Dua Moment

Looking gorgeous in polka dots and butterflies, Selena matches her retro-inspired Versace x Dua Lipa collab look to a massive trunk. Her hair is pulled back in a half updo, smiling poolside with palm trees around her.

Crazy About Paris

Seemingly in an elevator with an infinity mirror effect, Gomez wears a white Christian Dior sweater shirt with a white pleated skirt. She looks stunning with her hair pulled back, showing off her beautiful face and big gold hoops.

Red Lip Beauty

In this breezy-faced selfie, Gomez keeps her makeup minimal with a bold red lip and mascara. On her ear, we see tons of minimal ear candy, making her look really cool in just a white tank top.

Here Comes The Bride

With a big smile, Gomez seems to be having fun sharing her "regular day at work" in a bridal gown while sitting on the floor. Though she's got white gloves to match, she went for the unconventional route with chunky white combat boots.

Natural Beauty

While quoting Miley Cyrus' song, "Violet Chemistry" in the caption, Gomez shares an up-close bare-faced selfie and naturally tousled hair with her fans. With no makeup besides what looks to be lash extensions, Gomez's imperfect skin still looks fantastic and she's so real for showing this to hundreds of millions of people.

Sangria Sipper

While announcing her taking a break from social media in February, Gomez shared this seductive photo of her sipping on a glass of sangria while wearing a black strapless top. She wrote in her caption: "I deleted this one time because I thought maybe it was too much but eh." Just like the comments section, we believe there is no such thing as too much when you're as gorgeous as she is.

Starting Off The Year Right

Sharing flicks of kicking off 2023 with friends, Gomez looks so happy and thriving on the beach and on a yacht. In the last slide, though, she absolutely slays as she is climbing up the ladder out of a picturesque sea.
