The IMAX run will only be for one week starting on September 22nd. “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig shared her excitement in a statement, saying “We made ‘Barbie’ for the big screen, so it’s a thrill to be able to bring it to IMAX.”
“Barbie” is on track to be the biggest movie of the year, just behind “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” With the new post-credits scene potentially luring people back to watch it one more time, plus the hefty price tag of an IMAX movie, “Barbie” just might take the crown as the number one movie of 2023.
