Woman Wins $2.6 Million On Lottery Ticket She Got As Birthday Gift
A South Australian woman from the small seaside village of Moonta has won a massive $2.58-million ($1.7-million USD) Lotto prize, with a ticket she didn’t even buy. According to YAHOO News, the ticket was actually a birthday present from her in-laws, tucked inside a card that she’d left in her mailbox for three days.
When the unnamed woman finally opened the card and checked the ticket, she was in complete disbelief, admitting, “I thought that I would’ve just won $20 – not $2.58 million!” She immediately reached out to her in-laws with the good news. “I told them straight away and they thought we were pulling their leg,” she says. She describes the experience as “so surreal” adding, “What a great birthday gift!”
The lucky winner says she’s been dreaming for years about owning her own home. Now, she plans to buy her first home with her newfound wealth. But she hasn’t forgotten the kind in-laws that made it all possible. “This ticket is a gift, so we look forward to giving back to our families,” she says, “They’ve changed our lives and we look forward to doing the same.”
