If you live in Charlotte and love ice cream I have bad news for you! Charlotte is failing ice cream lovers! Summer and ice cream go hand in hand, so it makes sense that National Ice Cream Month is July. National Ice Cream Day is also coming up this Sunday, July 16th. Even though it's ungodly hot in the QC in the summer, that doesn't add up to Charlotte being a great spot for ice cream! I did a little research to try and find ice cream made in North Carolina. The only thing I found was "Howling Cow." That's the ice cream made at NC State! Producer Nicole says you can get at the NC State bookstore! She says it's "really good." You can buy it at Harris Teeter and the State Fair.

Yes, you could describe that order as one of a 5-year-old, but it's still delicious! I don't go for ice cream too often, but I do love to grab a cone when I'm on vacation especially. And there is no shortage of ice cream shops in Charlotte or the rest of North Carolina. It seems especially at the beach there is one on every corner. And with well-known chains and locally owned options it can be hard to know what to choose. That's why Yelp has created a list of the top 100 ice cream shops nationwide. And 5 North Carolina Ice Cream shops made the list.
